I’ve read a few books about books – and even one or two about books within books. I had been wanting to read this for a while, and then I managed to pick it up for Jade’s Polarthon in February. I…loved this book! I loved the concept of a library within hell, filled with all of the books unrealised by their authors and found it somewhat unique as I’d not read a book about a library in hell before. I found Claire so sassy and an awesome librarian who pulls no punches, and although I wasn’t his biggest fan at the start, I warmed to Ramiel through until I kind of liked him, hehe. Andras I was very suspicious of within a few pages of meeting him, but I found Brevity such a bubbly character who was just a little slice of sunshine with her personality; so when she’s down it made me very sad. Leo is just the cutest bean and I love him so much, and Hero…I found him a little annoying at first but gradually warmed to him and found him to be quite witty and funny by the end.
Although some things didn’t make sense or seemed a little too convenient or predictable at times, I thought the novel was well-written, hilarious at times with cute moments sprinkled throughout , and had me at the edge of my seat on more than one occasion because…the adventure, action and tension in this book made it so compelling for me! I also found it so interesting visiting the other realms that the characters visited, and the fact that as some point they enter somewhere they can’t be touched by their pursuers because of certain protections quite cool.
I can’t wait to pick up the sequel!
