Title: Dark Uprising (Tainted Fae Book 2)
Author: Autumn M. Birt

OMG I loved this! Autumn very kindly sent me the first book, Dark Fae Outcast which I loved, and I loved this one even more. The premise was very intriguing, and once I started reading I could not put it down, reading it in nearly one sitting – only putting it down go and eat dinner. First of all, I love that these novels use fantasy and Fae, and the magical world to comment on climate change and the environment, definitely fit into Eco fiction/fantasy. I found October to be a rather mysterious character and it was great learning more about her as the novel progressed, though I did find her mildly annoying at times. I didn’t feel too much towards the other new characters, although I knew I would like Leanag from the moment I meet her…and I suppose I warmed to Adahy after a while haha. It was also lovely to be reunited with Riasg, Sgleó, and Bramble – Bramble, despite his prickly little body is adorable- but that is just my opinion, heh!
Although some of what happens still feels convenient or doesn’t make sense – and there were some “tropes” or those lines you often see used in some novels, and make you go “no! Why do authors use that line?!”, this still felt like a step up from the first novel. Development in both story and existing characters is evident, the intrigue and tension are amped up, and there was definitely development in the new characters as well- no to mention the ending left me earning from the next book even more than the first one!
