A Review of…Lion of the Sea (arc) *Spoiler Free*

Title: The Lion of the Sea

Author: Micheline Ryckman

Publisher: Whimsical Publishing

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Thank you so much to Micheline for my arc copy of this amazing sequel!

I don’t want to say much, as I may give away spoilers for the first book.

It is so hard to express my thoughts on this book – particularly in a way that won’t spoil the first book for those who haven’t read it. We pretty much pick up immediately from the massive revelation in the first book and go on another incredible journey across the seas, seeing more of the characters we love from the first adventure along with getting to know those we maybe didn’t see enough of, and encountering a number of new and exciting characters as well.

Absolutely loved this second instalment, and getting to know the characters more – including one who doesn’t have a particularly big part in The Maiden Ship, and seeing the story advance further. I really saw the character development here, especially in Dain and his abilities, and his relationships with certain characters. I also love that we followed one character we didn’t really see al l that much in the first book, and an existing character who meets them after terrifying circumstances lead them to becoming imprisoned and forced to use their own ability against their will. There is another character we meet along this second story plot that I totally hated at the start but who Micheline, through her writing, eventually made me love and really root for in the end.

This sequel….took me to so many new places within the amazing wondrous world that Micheline painted in the first book , and I met new characters that I adored (some more than others, which I believe was intended). Although I did find some of the things that happened slightly predictable I absolutely adored the sequel and hope I have the chance to read an arc of the third book.

You have wings. Believe in them and yourself, and you will fly.
