Thank you to NetGalley and Avon for my e-arc of this novel
I don’t often read crime-thrillers, and it’s been a while since I read a crime novel; I am so glad that this one was the first one I picked up after so long. It was a really gripping story; it had a brilliant set-up and I thought the storyline was really interesting which is I think what made it so gripping for me. The story kept me on my toes and the edge of my seat at the same time, and had my heart pounding almost the entire way through, and although some parts of it were a little predictable and there were a few minor errors I still enjoyed it immensely – so much happened!
This happens a lot, but I loved the main character, Connie – except because this is hasn’t come out yet I don’t want to say why because – spoilers! All I’ll say, is that I have great admiration for her character as well as Fields for the way that she’s written the character and the way she wrote her background – additionally, I adored the way that her and her partner on the case she’s brought in on developed their working relationship and how it continues developing throughout the novel. I also liked the way that Fields wrote the background of the bad guy of the story as it allowed the reader to get an in-depth look into the character’s mind and past, and why he is the way he is and some insight into his actions. This was the first of Fields’ novels that I’ve read and it’s safe to say that I will definitely be picking up more of her work in the future :).
If you’re thinking of giving this a go when it releases, hopefully my review has helped you make a decision :).
