I’ve read contemporaries/romance novels, and I’ve read a few novels that involve a protection detail – but I can’t say I’ve ever read a novel that combined the two.
In Freeman’s novel, Kat Parker is a close protection officer assigned to protect film star Zac Edwards from a stalker who won’t let up. It’s her job to protect him, keep him out of danger.
There is instant chemistry between them, but Kat seems determined to remain professional and keep their relationship the way it is: protection agent, and the client she has been assigned to protect. I really enjoyed learning about both protagonists as the novel progressed, but I would have liked to learn more about certain parts of their pasts, which were only mentioned in passing – or spoken about, but not very much. I also liked the premise of the story; a female protection officer protecting a male client, rather than the other way round. It was very entertaining with their back and forth, and there were many moments that had me “on the edge of my seat” (I was actually lying down while reading this, so it was more…on the edge of my pillows haha). Long story short – otherwise I might spoil something – I loved the book and would definitely recommend you pick it up when it comes out.
You have wings. Believe in them and yourself, and you will fly.
