Title: this savage song
Author: V.E Schwab
Publisher: Titan Books
COWWT: 25/25 (5/5)
Characters: 5
I loved both Kate and August throughout this novel. Kate, for her ambition but also the wild side of he. August I think is my favourite character, because of his yearning to be human despite what he is and the difficulty he has doing what he was “born” to do.
Ooh! Factor: 5
OMG there was so much in this novel that had me gasping, my heart pounding. I honestly couldn’t pick one thing out of all the exciting that I loved more than the others.
Writing Style: 5
I’ve only read one of Schwab’s works (A Darker Shade of Magic) but I absolutely loved her writing style, and this didn’t change in this savage song. The story was well written, it flowed well, and everything was thought provoking and created imagery at every page. She made me feel everything the characters did.
World Building: 5
Oh my gosh the world this is set in! I felt like I was there, the world building was done so well.
Tone: 5
There were so many tones that stood out over the course of the book; anger, pain, friendship, suspicion and so many more seeped out of the pages and I became immersed in them as I read.
If you’ve read this savage song, what are your thoughts?
You have wings. Believe in them and yourself, and you will fly.
Kath xoxo
