Title: Last Bus to Everland
Author: Sophie Cameron
Publisher: Macmillan Children’s
COWWT: 24/25 (5 stars)
Characters: 5
I really liked the main characters off this novel,Brody and Nico (but really, what’s new? Haha). I felt strangely similar and connected to Brody, because of the fact that I have experienced the exact same emotions that he does in the book – and Nico! He was so sassy, I loved it. I also found a lot of the characters as they made the book a refreshing change from the ones I usually read. This is probably only the third (technically fourth, though one is part of duology) one of its kind I’ve read, and I have loved all of them!
Ooh! Factor: 4
There were a number of things that gave cause for gasping, furrowing my brow in surprise or anger, as well as a few tears that were shed. However, there wasn’t enough that would warrant a 5 rating for this section..
Writing Style: 5
As it was a Middle Grade it was incredibly easy to read; Sophie’s writing was easy to follow and not at all complicated at any point, and what’s more, I never had to go back at any point because I didn’t understand what was going on or felt like I’d missed something. I also felt like there were a lot of topics covered throughout which was really cool.
World Building: 5
I don’t want to spoil it for those of you who haven’t read it, but oh my gosh Everland was amazing! It was so cool and rich in detail, I loved it. World building is amazing!
Tone: 5
I definitely felt frustration, pain, amazement and love (among other emotions) throughout the novel, and I got all the feels as I read!
Have you read Last Bus to Everland ? If so, what are your thoughts?
You have wings. Believe in them and yourself, and you will fly.
