Title: The Chosen
Author: Taran Matharu
Publisher: Hodder Children’s Books
COWWT: 25/25 (5/5)
Oh my gosh I absolutely loved the main character, Cade. He felt really relatable, though possibly more so for some, and was so strong minded despite the hardships he faces, and takes everything in his stride; accepting the situations he was in as they were yet trying to find a way to deal with and work through them. I also loved the fact that he was sort of a history buff who could also more or less read one of the oldest languages in the world; they were the reasons he was pulled into this other world, and also made me believe that he his is meant to be the “leader” of the group that end up there due to the fact he is greatly knowledgeable about the bits of history they find. I enjoyed getting to know the other characters too, though I really didn’t like Finch because he was such a big bully who was really intimidating and cruel who took pleasure from making others miserable – but I feel like that was so Cade would have someone to bounce off.
Ooh! Factor: 5
Oh there was so much in this book that had me gasping in shock and surprise, my eyes widen or grumble with annoyance or anger at specific places (and because of certain characters)

World Building: 5
Ooh I loved the world building! It was amazing ; so detailed, vibrant surroundings and all manner of pieces of history intigrated into it, and the landscapes felt so real I loved it all!
There was a clear sense of loneliness and desperation, determination and friendship within the book but also rivalry
