Read: 28 – 30 April
Prompt: Potions
Title: Myths and Mortals
Author: Charlie N. Holmberg
Publisher: 47th North
COWWT: 24.5/25 (5 Stars)
Characters: 5
Once again, I fell in love with the characters of Holmberg’s amazing world. Sandis, with her independence and pure determination captured my heart again. Rone too, recaptured my heart with his persistence in trying to redeem himself with Sandis, and trying to protect her even though she doesn’t want him to.
Ooh! Factor: 4.5
I was expecting a few of the things that happened in the novel as it progressed, and so they didn’t surprise me all that much. There were however definitely parts of it that did, a few of them really – I mean really made me gasp, and one of them at least made me cry.
Writing Style: 5
I loved the writing style in this as much as the first. It’s so well written, the characters are always vibrant and alive, and…Holmberg writes in a way that really captures my attention and keeps me reading.
World Building: 5
Amazing…Just, amazing, I really felt a sense of place, felt and smelt everything the characters did; the world building was that good.
Tone: 5
I could sense the tone more-or-less the whole way through, though it was a mixture: anger, fear, anguish, love and a number of others.
