Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor (Warning: Possible Spoilers)

Wyrdlight – powerful character – political or magical

Read: November 30th – December 9th 5/5 Stars

Author: Laini Taylor Publisher: Hodder and Stroughton

I think this book was recommended to me by Jade, who loved it a lot and has read the other two. Oh my gosh, this book totally blew me away and I am nearly speechless after reading it; I honestly can’t put into words how much I loved this book. I loved the way the characters are written…..they’re all so colourful and vibrant, and thought it was very well-written. I think I loved Karou’s character most of all, because she’s strongly independent and brave, and sassy and headstrong and doesn’t take crap from anyone, and so many other things, that make me admire her. I thought Kaz was quite funny, purely because of how ridiculously cheeky he is; I found the life-drawing “scene” hilarious, particularly the way he grinned at Karou; breaking into giggles as I read – in fact, I think I giggled quite a lot at the Kaz scenes because of how cheeky and annoying he was throughout the book when he popped up.

If you’ve read it, what did you think of Daughter of Smoke and Bone? I’d love to know.
