Hello my lovelies, two months ago near the end of June I received an email from Canongate saying:
…We’re looking for Bloggers, Vloggers, ’Grammers and Tweeters who’d like to celebrate publication of #TheMyths and receive a bespoke set. Interested? Then drop Jamie an email, he’d love to hear from you.
I was already interested after reading the subject line of the email and following that, I saw the featured photo and read the small paragraph block-quoted above, and immediately thought “I want these!” as I’ve been a fan of myths and legends ever since I can remember.
Monday 30th July and Tuesday 31st July, I read the six Canons and have written reviews on them which will be published over the next three days, two each day – some separate and some combined into one post.
The books are as follows:
The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood
A Short History of Myth by Karen Armstrong
The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ by Philip Pullman
Weight by Jeanette Winterson
Girl Meets Boy by Ali Smith
Lion’s Honey by David Grossman
(This is not the order I read them in by the way)
A link to every book’s Canongate page will be at the end of their respective review posts – aren’t the covers gorgeous by the way?
If you have read any of the books yourself, recently or when they were first released what are/were your thoughts on them?
Before I sign off, a big thank you to Canongate (and Beverley who I emailed with) for sending me the gorgeous bespoke set.
Stay true to yourself and never let anyone deter you from the course you wish to take.
Kath xoxo
