My Rating: * * * * *
I think I first read this when I was about…14? I don’t entirely remember ha-ha – but it was definitely not long after it first came out, though I think after reading it that first time around I forgot about the series until about a year or so ago when I suddenly decided I wanted to read The Raven Boys again…possibly after seeing Jade (Jadeyraereads << click here to visit her YouTube page) do a “Book Babble” on it on her channel: I think I must have recognised the book, and bought it again after her video ignited a flame of yearning to read the book again.
Re-reading it, I fell in love with the main characters – even Ronan! – all over again, though I don’t think I could pick a favourite as I love all of them equally ha-ha. Maggie’s writing really enthralled me the whole way through, I couldn’t put it down and was reluctant to when I didn’t have a choice. Her description of Cabeswater in particular really pulled at me because it was so well-written that I felt as though I was actually there: like I could almost touch the trees – especially the massive sycamore tree, smell the air the characters smelled, feel the damp air within Cabeswater and see what they were seeing.
Love you guys as always.
Stay true to yourself and don’t ever let anyone deter you from the course you wish to take.
Kath xoxo
