Why I love To Read

Questions a lot of bookworms may be asked, include “Why do you read?” and “What makes you love books so much?”, and I have recently been asking myself that very same question, so I thought I would do a post on why I personally love to read.

I thought I’d start off by saying that my love of books, and reading them, goes back as far as I can remember, and possibly a series of short novels called The Rainbow Fairies – though I’ve never been sure if it was these books that made me all in love with fantasy novels, or other books/ a singular novel; all I know, is that my love for books (especially fantasy novels) was sparked very early in life.

Reading allows me to lose myself in a multitude of different worlds (I don’t read a lot of non-fiction), and travel to many places without leaving the comfort of my room or sofa – which is brilliant, because I’m a rather nervous flyer, but even then when I’m lost in a book I forget I’m on a plane- when reading books like Shiver, Ingo, The Novice, Step Back in Time, FanGirl, etc., for hours on end.

It also brings an escape from the real world when it’s hard for me to cope. When life gets too much to bare, and when I was younger – well, a high school student – reading also gave me an unlimited number of friends (it still does, actually), because I didn’t have many outside of the pages of my books and for a long time I wished I could live within the worlds I fell into, because they seemed better – easier, you might say – than the one I live in… I could be anyone I wanted to be – and still do; some of those worlds are amazing! Haha.

These are only a few of the reasons I read – there are many more, though I think it highly likely that they’d take more than one post to cover: the post would be too long, hehe.

Love you guys, as always.

Stay true to yourself, and don’t ever let anyone deter you from the course you wish to take.

Kath xoxo
