CARVE THE MARK by Veronica Roth Review

CARVE THE MARK has become one of my favourite books to-date. I loved the writing style and the characters – aside from a few-, and my favourite character overall has to be Akos because he doesn’t give up his efforts, his goals, during his time as a prisoner/servant of Shotet and Ryzek Noavek (its ruler)

Despite the fact that there are issues about the book that were only brought to my attention recently (if you are a member and have rated the book or reviewed it you may have seen the reviews of some people, which go into detail about some of the issues, and a few people I know have found some of the book’s content – or the book as a whole- insensitive, sexist, slightly racist etc), and that I understand, and agree with to an extent, I still liked the book(to an extent) and may  read the next one.

Stay true to yourself, and don’t let anyone deter you from the path you wish to take.

(this was edited 12th March 2018; I have since reduced my rating to 3* after reflecting – took over 7 months but hay-ho haha – but may still read the next instalment when it comes out, if the blurb interests me)
